How does the doctor keep up to date on all of the current techniques
and materials?
Dr. Ahnquist not only subscribes to the top 8 dental journals
for research and development but also participates in a minimum of
200 hours of advanced
hands-on courses and lectures relating to the latest and greatest in
dentistry today. The entire team also participates in learning the latest
techniques
and materials by attending at least 2 weeklong sessions per year. Dr.
Ahnquist has studied under the masters and has earned advanced standing
in smile
designs, cosmetic makeovers and full mouth reconstruction. She also
has training in TMJ and facial pain, lasers and implant restorations.
She
has received two fellowship awards from the Academy of Comprehensive
Esthetics and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Can you show me what my smile can look like ahead of time with
imaging software?
We
also have catalogs of smile designs from which to choose. We can
even do a “mock-up” on your teeth while you watch. We
can take a digital photo and image a smile while you are finishing
treatment.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
As a courtesy to you, we file all
insurance claims on your behalf. Although we do accept “assignment
of benefits,” different
insurance companies reimburse according to your employer’s
terms of agreement. Dental insurance is a wonderful supplement
to dental fees and we will gladly assist you in evaluating your
policy.
What do I do if I have an emergency and the office is
closed?
In the event of a true dental emergency that cannot wait until
the next office day, Dr. Ahnquist may be reached at 859-278-8707 or 859-333-8757;
please leave a message with your name, phone number, and the nature of
your condition. We will return the call ASAP. Dr.
Ahnquist makes it a point to be accessible to all of her patients.
If Dr. Ahnquist is not available, another doctor’s name and
phone number will be left on our office answering machine.
What different payment options do you provide?
We accept cash, personal
checks, and all major credit cards. Your insurance co-pay is due at the
time of your visit but we’ll
be happy to help you structure a payment plan to
pay out any remaining charges. For extensive procedures, we’re
also pleased to offer financing plans through Care
Credit and Wells
Fargo.
How can I ask the doctor questions directly?
Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have. All team
members attend multiple conferences and lectures each year to stay current
with the latest in dentistry.
What makes you different than any other dental practice I can visit?
We
are not your parent’s dental office! Within the confines
of our office, we provide removal of virgin decay with air powder
spray and water (No needles! No drill!)
At our office we also…
utilize a microscope for fine, detailed treatment with excellence
use lasers to detect cavities
offer Zoom! in-office bleaching of teeth in just
1 hour
perform gum lifts to “even out” your smile
create smile designs
with digital imaging
perform root canals in just 1 appointment
use only tooth-colored fillings
(no ugly metal!)
offer colored “glitter” fillings for (back)
baby teeth in children
My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned
about?
Bleeding is always an indication of existing inflammation.
It is imperative that the source be found before more irreversible
situations arise such as periodontitis or gum disease (pyorrhea). Our
hygienists
are specifically trained in detection and treatment of initial
problems. We also have an excellent referral source of specialists for
more
severe conditions.
I brush every day but my breath just isn’t fresh.
Is there anything I can do?
There are many effective solutions to this
very common condition. But more importantly, it is necessary to first
discover the cause of the problem. Depending on the diagnosis, the solutions
vary
greatly from something as simple as a special mouth rinse to a more
complex medical
treatment. There are excellent products to neutralize foul breath
and we can recommend a treatment plan customized for your condition.
We have a machine, a halimeter, that can measure the degree of the problem.
